Transformation is difficult, especially on your own. It becomes easier when using proven strategies and best practices. I can help you get to where you want to be and unlock your maximum potential
Specializing in helping organizations get the most out of their people, products and technologies by creating innovative experiences that drive engagement and performance . I've been building and developing amazing teams to deliver experiences that enhance and enable performance for 20 years. I offer experience and expertise on Performance Enablement, Learning Experience Design, Learning Technology & Product Innovation, Coaching, Talent & Performance Development and Learning as a Service.
,
My experience in learning and performance has come through some very diverse settings, including Consulting, IT, Higher Ed, Construction, Peace Corps Service, Software Development and Secondary Education.
I've earned my PMP, Scrum Product Owner (CSPO) and HBX CORe certifications and have a Master’s degree in Educational Technology from San Diego State University. I have a proven record of developing exemplary teams and designing innovative learning products with people from all over the globe.
My most recent role was with the Boston Consulting Group as the Global L&D Director for Learning Experience Delivery where I established a team focused on the continuous improvement of the experiences around our products and services. Prior to this, my role was the Global L&D Director of Design & Innovation where we built a Learning Design Center of Excellence focused on designing innovative learning experiences that accelerate the development of our learners. Before joining BCG, I was with the Harvard Business School where I spent nearly 5 years in a variety of roles partnering with faculty and IT experts to design, develop and deliver innovative learning technologies to enhance content, enliven teaching, and enhance learning before, during, and after the classroom experience.
I believe that:

I believe that:
- Learner Centered Design means getting to know your learners so well that you can design learning experiences that are so convenient and efficient that it is easier for them to learn than to not learn
- Embedded learning is the future. The best learning is nearly invisible to learners and is integrated with their daily routines
- Simple is best. We need to reduce cognitive load when teaching - take out the fluff
- Doing it is ALWAYS better than reading about it, make it hands on, or build simple simulations
- Performance Support is often more valuable than basic training - give them the information when they need it
- Motivation = 1 part Knowledge + 1 part Value + 1 part environment
- Flipped classrooms aren't new. It's just the right way to learn. It gives you something to reference before and something to reference after and makes any time in a classroom much more valuable
- Blended learning is just a new term for how humans have always learned. We learn best through a set of experiences over time. Ask anyone how they got good at what they do and they will tell you a story of blended learning. I've developed a systems thinking framework to quickly design these learning journeys
- Most people will try to "do" first, then use graphics and visuals for guidance, and then they will read if necessary
- Break it up - 10 minutes is as long as the brain can focus on one topic before it has to hit "save". Pause often to allow the learners to keep the lessons
- There are so many distractions online, if your content is not interesting and easy to use, your learners are looking at something else that is
- Good learning design STILL needs solid objectives, start with the end in mind and figure out what success looks like BEFORE and then design backwards. Otherwise you may be adding unnecessary bells and whistles that can interfere with what you are trying to teach
- Virtual Reality is going to allow us to design amazing simulations where learners can practice so many crazy and dangerous things safely! - go back in time or into the future, walk in someone else's shoes, learn to skydive, chemistry lab, operate on someone......
- Agile does not mean you don't need a plan or documentation, it actually means more planning!
